Three pages the rest of the book keeps pointing at, written once here rather than repeated on twenty four entries.
If you read one
The limits page. Almost everything that goes wrong in this subject is a protection being real and narrower than the reader believed, and that page collects every limit stated across the book into one table.
The four phrases that carry the most weight
Out of twenty four entries, four decide most outcomes. If you are short of time, these are the ones.
| Entry | Why it matters more than the rest |
|---|---|
| Pay direct | The only phrase in the book with no recovery mechanism behind the wrong answer. Nothing else here is final in the same way. |
| Available balance | Describes the most frequent loss in this subject, and there is no attacker involved in it at all. |
| Signed roster | The only thing in the book that establishes an address is genuine rather than merely reachable. |
| Act now | Not one phrase but a family. It appears inside almost every other warning here, because urgency is what stops people checking. |
How to use the book when something is happening
The entries are written to be read cold, before you need them. If something is happening right now, the useful order is narrower.
- If a page is asking you for something, read session expired before typing anything.
- If a message is asking you for something, read act now and check whether a deadline is attached.
- If money has not appeared, read unconfirmed and check your own wallet before contacting anybody.
- If an address stopped working, read rotation, and if it started again read gone.
