A state most people reach once and misread badly, because they think it is the start of an argument. It is the start of a reading.
- What it literally says
- That the order is contested and the platform has been asked to arbitrate.
- What it actually means
- The contract freezes so neither side can move funds, and the platform takes over the third signature. A ruling therefore moves money rather than producing a recommendation.
- What it does not mean
- That somebody will read your account of events sympathetically. An arbitrator matches claims against dates, the message thread and whatever evidence exists.
- What to do
- Submit a record rather than a narrative, name one specific outcome, and answer promptly for as long as it runs.
- If it looks different
- An offer to withdraw the dispute and settle privately removes the only leverage you have.

What to attach
- Order reference and dates first. Not background, not context.
- The message thread, unedited. Selective quoting reads as selective quoting and damages a case that would otherwise have won.
- Whatever delivery evidence exists, in the form you have rather than a description of it.
- One specific outcome. Full refund, partial, reship. A complaint without a remedy invites somebody else to choose one.
- Nothing else. Length is not persuasive. A tight submission gets read and a long one gets skimmed.
What loses a winnable case
| Mistake | Why it costs you |
|---|---|
| Filing before the window closed | Usually dismissed, and visible on the resubmission |
| Arguing inside the ticket | Dilutes the evidence sitting beside it |
| Threatening feedback | Visible to the arbitrator and reads as pressure |
| Going quiet mid process | Silence is weighed against whoever went quiet |
| Settling privately | Ends the mechanism and there is no recovery afterwards |
Not automaticOutcomes go both ways and the system works because filing has a cost. A buyer with a tight factual submission after a closed window is in a strong position regardless of which side they are on.
Timing
First response measured in hours, most cases closed inside a working week, longer when one side answers slowly. The one lever you control is answering promptly, which is also the one people neglect while composing longer arguments.
